Welcome to Knight Vision Creative
Gaming Together
Brendan’s wife here.
I wanted to share something I’ve noticed as I’ve watched Brendan build Knight Vision Creative over the last several years. You’ll have to forgive me as I share this because while I live with someone who lives and breathes D&D, I, myself, fall more into the “passing knowledge” category of D&Ders.
I, myself, know many among my kids. When I say, “my kids,” I am referring both to my own biological children and the kids whom I have worked with over the many years of my career. I think of all of them as “my kids.”
One of my own biological children is an onlooker, through and through.
I’ve known this about them since forever, really. Every year as I attend the teacher meet and greet at their school, I tell their teacher sort of jokingly, but mostly truthfully, “Give them six months and then, once they’ve clocked all the idiosyncrasies of you, and their classmates, have the rules and routines engraved in their mind down to the most insignificant detail, and have determined the hierarchy of values of this particular group, then, they might speak to you – just in time for school to almost let out for summer.”
I’ve come to know so many onlookers over the years. Those who watch from afar because they are desperate to engage but don’t know how. Those who stand near enough to catch an accidental invitation should one float their way. Those whose curiosity gets the best of them even though they wish to go unnoticed. Those who need to understand the complete dynamics before they can muster the courage to participate.
As I’ve watched my husband build Knight Vision Creative, I’ve watched him attempt to build a place for the onlookers and to build a product for, by, and with the onlookers.
He has extended an invitation, intentionally, to those who don’t always feel welcomed or aren’t always sure they want to be welcomed.
There is something for everyone, intentionally. Characters who might look like you or act like you. Humor for those whose medicine is laughter. Rules and structure because, for some, that is where they thrive. Some characters who are a little more scantily clad because kink is alive and well among D&Ders and others who are fully covered because D&D is a game for all – including families and children. And, of course, beautiful human-made art to honor the artists among and within all of us.
Knight Vision Creative is meant to be a place where new ideas and off-color visions do not have to be whispered in the dark but, instead, can be poked and stretched and molded by the KVC community.
If you are an onlooker or know an onlooker, like I do, please know that you and that they are welcome. Pull up a chair, join the Discord, grab a book, and stay a while. Brendan has extended an invitation, and it wasn’t by accident.
