Divination sentinels were Zephyr's Veil's answer to protecting the city. These constructs were eventually turned upon the citizens as a means to consolidate power and control.

Each divination sentinel was built for a specific role such as surveillance, containment, or elimination. Rocky Wolfgang, a magesmith of little renown at the time, saw the opportunity in the market for a modular model. This construct could have the same chassis, but a series of add-ons could be chosen to fulfill a variety of different roles. Having just a handful of options that could be mixed and matched would create way more varieties of divination sentinels than otherwise possible. Each add-on would increase the cost of the divination sentinel as well. Rocky's business grew by leaps and bounds until it became a dominant force in the marketplace. Competitors have adopted his methods and are attempting to come up with innovative options to steal back market share.
Adventuring Purpose
Divination sentinel characters can have a variety of motives for embarking on an adventure. Your character could be a divination sentinel that has gone rogue, adopting a personal code and bypassing the directives of your owner. You may have latent instructions you are unaware of that drive you to become an insider in an organization until you are reactivated. You may be part of an experiment to see what happens when divination sentinels are given free choice in the world. Whatever the reason, you are fully in control of your character and can use your backstory to shape your place in the adventure.
